Subject: Termination of column
Greetings,
It is a vibrant spring day here in Onyata:aka
territory. As things
strve for the sun, so do others melt and dissappear. I received word last
week the Syarcuse newspapers will cease using my columns after 5 1/2 years.
While I am not satisfied with the rationale (the editor wanted more
diversity) given the urgency of the moment with regards to Iroquois issues,
there is not much I can to to reverse this decision. For those who might
want to contact the editor, his name is Mike Connor and the number is
315-470-0011. The e-mail for letters to the editor is: letters@syracuse.com
I will try for national syndication so I will hardly be censored or
qualified. I will keep sending stories as I will continue as a columnist for
New From Indian Country.
Onen,
Doug-Kanentiio

>>Greetings:
>>
>>It has come to my attention that the service offered by the Syracuse
>>Herald American in the form of the periodic column by Doug
>>George-Kanentiio may be curtailed. This saddens me. I look forward
>>enthusiastically to viewing Mr. George-Kanentiio's articles. It is very
>>distressing to hear this news. Mr. George-Kanentiio offers opinions in
>>respect to Native Americans that are most often missing from mainstream
>>reporting. There's none other like him! He clearly has grass root
>>insights regarding issues & events concerning Native Americans. As a
>>retired teacher, I view his articles as being extremely educational as is
>>exhibited in his obvious command of historic & contemporary knowledge
>>concerning the topics he discusses. He expresses a perspective
>>concerning issues of the broader society that parallel the world of
>>Native America in a uniquely insightful manner. Simply put, there is no
>>other series of articles like those offered by Doug Geroge-Kanentiio.
